Ekurhuleni International Film Festival to be held from 24 to 26 November

The Ekurhuleni International Film Festival (EIFF) will be held from 24 to 26 November at the Dumisani Masilela Theatre in Germiston, South Africa.

The film of TV BRICS joint editorial office "Dostoevsky Intercontinental" will be presented in the competition programme of the fourth Ekurhuleni International Film Festival 2022 in South Africa.

This year the EIFF received in total 3,000 entries, including 603 entries from the BRICS countries: 73 (South-Africa), 259 (China), 9 (Russia) and 189 (India).

"The film industry forms part of the development of Creative Industries in the City of Ekurhuleni. The Ekurhuleni film industry plays a vital role in growing economy, a creative economy that not only attracts cultural workers and quality jobs, but also contributes to economic growth and social development. The Ekurhuleni audiovisual industry encompasses a range of creative production activities including film, TV and documentary production, commercials, stills photography and multimedia," the festival organizing committee said.

The Ekurhuleni International Film Festival was officially launched in South Africa on 25 June, 2016. The goal of EIFF is to empower local and international filmmakers by providing them with vital filmmaking skills, creating opportunities to network with local and international broadcasters, as well as promoting local business through the film industry and stimulating economic development in various sectors of the economy.

For local and international filmmakers, within the framework of the festival on 24-25 November, master classes, training seminars and workshops aimed at the development of cinematography will be held. Participants will learn about the filmmaking process and become familiar with the activities of the various professionals involved in filmmaking.

The film festival is open to filmmakers from all over the world. Among the entries are films from the BRICS countries: "Under the same sky”, China, “A night of fate”, South Africa, “Mise en Place”, Brazil, “India's Children”, India.

The EIFF was hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni, South African Broadcasting Company (SABC) and WEB, TV and film production company Rhythm Cycles Projects.

The film of TV BRICS joint editorial office "Dostoevsky Intercontinental" is dedicated to the anniversary of F.M. Dostoevsky and shows the relevance of the classic's figure, his work and philosophical heritage for international community.

Companies participating in creating the "Dostoevsky Intercontinental" film are CGTN-RUS (China Global Television Network); Grupo Bandeirantes De Comunicação (Brazil); MOJA MEDIA holding (South Africa); Malai Murasu TV regional television company (India) and Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chennai (India).
