Special briefing by UN Under-Secretary-General Melissa Fleming on COVID-19 Communications Response Initiative

The COVID-19 Communications Response Initiative is an effort to get accurate, factual and science-based information out to the public

Special briefing by the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, Ms. Melissa Fleming, on the UN COVID-19 Communications Response Initiative, Together for Science, Solutions and Solidarity, will be held on Thursday 21 May at 7:45 am EDT. We do deeply apologise for the early hour for some of you, but our aim is to accommodate as many members as possible because of the different time zones.

The COVID-19 Communications Response Initiative, led by the UN Department of Global Communications, is an effort to get accurate, factual and science-based information out to the public. It aims to counter misinformation and promote solutions and solidarity, with a current focus on amplifying messages by the World Health Organization on how to stop the pandemic and address the health crisis. The Initiative will also feature the socio-economic impacts of the crisis and, as we move to the recovery phase, promote the call to “build back better” – with the Sustainable Development Goals as our blueprint for a pathway to a healthier, more equal, and greener world.

If you would like to join this briefing, please email me at birchs@un.org, indicating your name and media organization. You will then receive a link to join the meeting (videoconference).
