St Petersburg joined the World Tourism Alliance
Russia's second largest city, St Petersburg, the country's cultural centre has joined the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) in the category "cities", as reported by press service of the city administration on Tuesday.
Furthermore, the St Petersburg Tourism Development Committee has joined the alliance in the "organisations" category.
"The ceremony of awarding the certificates took place in the Chinese city of Hangzhou within the framework of the 2nd General Assembly of WTA and its key event, international tourism forum Xianghu Dialogue," said the press service.
Russian Consul General in Shanghai Dmitry Lukyantsev received the certificates on behalf of the city.
The World Tourism Alliance is a non-profit international organisation established in 2017 for cooperation in tourism development. It comprises national associations, businesses, cities, media, international organisations and universities. Its headquarters are in China.
The WTA currently includes about twenty European and Asian cities in addition to St Petersburg and Moscow.
