Russian Ambassador in China Andrey Denisov handed the award to Mr. Jiweion behalf of the President Vladimir Putin, Sibnovosti.ru with reference to TASS report.

The Order is awarded for special merits in peace building, cooperation and mutual understanding between the people of Russia and China, the representative of the Russian diplomatic service said. Denisov mentioned a big contribution of Lou Jiwei to implementation of large projects and attraction of investment to the Russian economy.

'Since the beginning of its reformist policy and openness, China has achieved huge success. We can say that Mister Lou Jiwei’s life is inseparable from this process. He has made a big personal contribution to the strengthening and development of Chinese economy, and formation of its financial system, which is today one of the largest in global terms,' Andrey Denisov added.

The Ambassador also noted that Russia highly appreciates the ex-Minister's work and attitude. In his turn, Lou Jiweisaid that to receive the Order of Friendship is a great honor for him:

'Today, the world is facing serious changes, development challenges, complex problems, and difficulties. In this situation, China and Russia shouldpromote the Russian-Chinese relations with overall strategic partnership and cooperation, make them reach new heights. For this, they should join forces, according to the consensus reached by the Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Russian President Vladimir Putin.'
