The North West Province of South Africa will celebrate World Tourism Day on 27 September

World Tourism Day is an initiative of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)

Deputy Minister of Tourism Fish Mahlalela and Galebekwe Virginia Tlhapi, member of the North West Province Executive Committee for Economic Development, Conservation & Tourism (DEDECT), will participate in World Tourism Day celebrations.

The celebration, themed "Tourism Investing in a Green Future", will highlight initiatives to help revitalise tourism. It will also promote industry collaboration on programmes that create decent jobs, inclusive economic growth, vibrant and sustainable local communities, as reported on the South African government website.

World Tourism Day is an initiative of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and is celebrated annually on 27 September to highlight the sector's contribution to the socio-economic development of countries and the promotion of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

South Africa celebrates World Tourism Day with a firm commitment to economic recovery, revitalising its domestic tourism market and welcoming visitors to the country without fear.
