The VI All-Russian Water Congress took place in Moscow
Digitalisation is one of the main challenges in the management of the country's water resources. This was revealed by the participants in the sixth All-Russian Water Congress. It was held in Moscow and brought together experts, industry leaders, as well as government officials.
"From a practical point of view, the main challenge is to integrate existing databases. In order to better predict, and consequently either control floods more effectively, or distribute water more efficiently when it is needed throughout the year. For the needs of navigation, energy, agriculture, providing conditions for the spawning of aquatic bioresources - fish," said Dmitry Kirillov, head of the Federal Agency for Water Resources.
Specialists will provide automated data collection on hundreds of rivers. Information will also be transmitted by employees of the fleet and other departments. The information obtained will be accumulated on the "Water. Open data" platform. Its launch is part of the first phase of digitalisation of the industry. The plan has already begun to be implemented and is scheduled to run until 2024. The legislature authorities have promised to provide the necessary legal support.
"We have a number of basic laws on water, primarily the water code. This is the federal law on water supply and sanitation and this is the law on food quality and safety. Getting information from public institutions such as today's congress, we process it with experts and implement it in the form of either legislative acts, federal laws or bylaws," explained Sergey Mitin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Nature Management.
Participants in the sessions and roundtables discussed drinking water quality standards, water reuse and other topics. Guests at the congress were able to see the latest pumping or purification equipment at a specialist exhibition.
In total, more than two dozen participants showed their products at the exhibition - they presented both industrial and household equipment.
