There has been a demand in southern India for weddings in Russia
In southern India, there is a growing demand for weddings in Russia. Kurhil Si Chandrahasan, head of Kerala Travels, told TASS.
In the 60 years of his company's operation, he said, Indians have regularly asked to perform traditional Indian wedding ceremonies in different states of the republic. Indonesia and Italy were also popular in this regard.
"We have developed an offer for weddings in Russia. Of course, among the first cities for this purpose are Moscow and St Petersburg, because they have the necessary infrastructure. Besides, there is a single flight connection from south India, which is important for wedding guests," said Chandrahasan.
He said that when a wedding ceremony is held in the bride and groom's home state, more than 2,000 guests come. If the wedding is held in another country, it is attended by 150 people.
Chandrahasan clarified that the official registration of marriage is carried out in India. But in the South Asian republic, observance of religious rites is still more important.
"Typically, an Indian wedding lasts for three days. It is usually held in large hotels, which must have two halls. The families on the bride and groom's side are accommodated in the same place, so they get to know each other well during the celebration," said the head of Kerala travels.
Chandrahasan is confident that the new "wedding destination" will be very popular with Indian newlyweds.
