Total value of Iran's steel exports increases by 18%
Iran exported steel products worth US$7.6 billion in the last calendar year, the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) revealed.
The total export value of steel products increased by 18 per cent, calling it "the most important achievement" in the steel industry. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
The country exported about 30 million metric tonnes of steel concentrate and pellets, up 66 percent from the previous year. Exports of medium carbon steel and steel slabs grew by 4.3 per cent and 23 per cent respectively.
Notably, iron ore concentrate exports rose by 621 per cent. Iran's steel production rose 5.8 percent in the previous Iranian calendar year to 29.334 million tonnes.
Of this total, 18,452,000 tonnes were billets and blooms, up 9.2 percent, while 10,882,000 tonnes were slabs, up 0.7 percent. Sponge iron production was also up 8.5 per cent year-on-year.
