Turkey lifts all COVID-19 restrictions for Indian tourists
Turkey has relaxed all terms for inbound travellers and expects to welcome the highest number of Indian tourists ever this year. This was announced by the Turkish Tourist Board. Earlier, Indian tourists had to present either a certificate of vaccination or a negative PCR test to visit Turkey, the statement said.
Indian travelers are no longer required to present proof of coronavirus vaccination, proof of recovery from the disease, or a negative test result, the agency added.
After Indigo and Turkish Airlines resumed direct international flights to Turkey, the country is expected to welcome the highest number of Indian tourists ever this year. This is reported by The Economic Times.
Turkey's tourism, which generated nearly $25 billion in revenues last year after posting 103 per cent growth following the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, is set to set a new record in 2022, the report said.
Last year, the country became one of the top destinations for independent travellers (FIT) and tourists from around the world attending meetings, incentive tours, conferences and events (MICE), hosting more than 30 million international visitors in 2021, the Turkish Tourist Board said.
Of these, 50,000 were Indian tourists, which is a significant number if the pandemic is taken into account.
Turkey therefore expects tourism to fully recover in 2022 and aims to reach 2019 figures for international visitors, including Indians.
