TV BRICS awards special prize to author of best TV travel film
TV BRICS awarded director Sergey Karandashov, the author of the best film in the TV travel genre at the XIII International Film Festival "Rendezvous with Russia", with a branded statuette.
“For a documentary filmmaker, communication with the audience is the greatest gift. And, of course, I am very grateful to the jury for the fact that our film was awarded,” the director said.
His documentary "Volok. Dreams about the road” tells about the journey of a group of people in boats along the water-and-portage ways with a length of almost three thousand kilometers. So they walked along these paths a thousand years ago during the time of Ancient Rus', their ancestors - merchants and entrepreneurs. The film crew watched what happened to them during this trip for a month and a half.
Answering a question about the development of interregional cooperation between the BRICS states and about the possible entry into the markets of these countries, Sergey Karandashov mentioned that it is very correct to broadcast the values underlying documentaries to a foreign audience.
“We tried to show the viewer that unknown Russia, which actually exists and which is very diverse and interesting. And I believe that a foreign viewer can see with our eyes what he may not know, does not see on some official TV channels,” Karandashov emphasised.
The XIII International Film Festival "Rendezvous with Russia" was held in the Vologda region from 30 November to 4 December.
