TV BRICS International Media Network strengthens its support for humanitarian cooperation among BRICS member states and partners

During the year, 42 new media outlets from different regions of the world joined the network

In 2024, foreign media partners of the TV BRICS International Media Network increased the number of publications on the activities of the BRICS member states and Russia's role in the association by several times compared to the previous year. Today, more than 80 media outlets from 25 countries cooperate with TV BRICS on a regular basis. 11 countries have joined the media network in 2024: UAE, Iran, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Chile, Colombia, Nigeria, Tunisia, Serbia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan. Among the new partners are the largest international media outlets of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Emirates News Agency (WAM, the UAE), Fana Media Corporation (FMC, Ethiopia), BelTA (Belarus), Venezolana de Television (VTV, Venezuela). During the year, TV BRICS news was broadcast in 27 languages, including Indonesian, Bengali, Assyrian, Swahili, Amharic, Kurdish, Pashto, and Hebrew.

One of the main information focuses of TV BRICS was the Russian BRICS Chairmanship. Thus, the media network was the official media partner of a number of events, including the BRICS Academic Forum, the BRICS Sports Games, the VI International BRICS Municipal Forum (IMBRICS), the VII BRICS International Festival of Theatre Schools, and the IX BRICS Legal Forum. As part of the IT-Forum in Khanty-Mansiysk, a special project of TV BRICS "BRICS GLOBAL MEDIA TOUR" was implemented, which was attended by international media network's partners from Egypt, China, Brazil, Cuba, Vietnam, India, and Saudi Arabia.

"In 2024, the geography of TV BRICS' presence expanded significantly, both by establishing cooperation with new member countries of the association and by developing interaction with partner states. Over the year, 42 new media outlets from South, South-East and Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America joined the network. At the same time, TV BRICS activities have long gone beyond information exchange, covering humanitarian and business spheres, education and cinema. Thus, TV BRICS has strengthened its role as a unique tool that promotes multifaceted cooperation and mutual understanding between countries"

Daria Ivankova Director of the International Cooperation Department of TV BRICS

On the eve of the XVI BRICS Summit, in order to promote humanitarian cooperation between the countries TV BRICS together with the M. I. Rudomino Library For Foreign Literature opened BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre in Moscow. The meeting of the Heads of State in Kazan was dedicated to the international media projects of TV BRICS together with the China Global Television Network (CGTN) and India's largest television network TV9.

In the year of Russia's BRICS presidency, TV BRICS established the TV BRICS International Symphony Orchestra and started its concert activities. To promote Russian academic music abroad, the radio stations Toda Palavra and TV Cultura in Brazil, and Classic 263 of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) were given works from the "Symphojazz", "Unknown Names of Russian Jazz" and "Reviving the Legacy of Russian Composers" cycles of the Russian State TV and Radio Music Centre (Orpheus).

In the area of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, TV BRICS jointly with the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund and partners implemented two InteRussia fellowship programmes: for young drama and cinema artists from BRICS+ countries and energy professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean.

In 2024, TV BRICS continued to broadcast unique content from BRICS+ countries on its resources. The documentaries "Noqte" (Iran), "My Brother Joaquin" (Argentina), "Trombonists" (Argentina), "Late-Night Pancake Bar" and “Chinese Holidays” (China), as well as the programme series “Manage Your Body” and Atomun (Venezuela), "Charm of Mozambique" (Mozambique), and “Eco-friendly China” (China) were broadcast exclusively by the network's partners and available to international audiences for the first time.

TV BRICS became the general media partner of the first international painting festival “Patterns of Friendship” (Iran-Russia), the International Innovative Film Festival in India, and the Festac Africa cultural festival in Kenya. Special screenings of TV BRICS films were held at international film festivals: IIFF (India), Thokoza (South Africa), the Street Film Festival in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the Zero Plus International Children's and Family Film Festival, “The Spirit of Fire”, and “Salt of the Earth” (Russia). TV BRICS has agreed to work with Cuban Institute on Cinematographic Arts and Industry (ICAIC) to promote Latin American cinema.

The topics of scientific and technological progress played a special role in the TV BRICS information agenda. In particular, a series of TV programmes “Laboratorium” on Russian innovative developments was created in 2024, which elicited a wide response from the global audience. After its premiere in Russia, the programme was adapted into five languages and transmitted to the media network's partners. In December 2024 alone, “Laboratorium” was shown by 10 major media outlets in six countries.

TV BRICS' network of partners in science and higher education, of which there are already more than thirty worldwide, has been joined by the Kobzon Institute of Theatre Arts and St. Petersburg University (Russia), the University of Tehran (Iran), Amity University in Gurugram (India) and the Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (INDAPRYAL). With the active participation of (INDAPRYAL), the TV BRICS project “Modern Russian” held two linguo-country studies teleconferences, during which Indian students were able to expand their understanding of the peculiarities of “Maslenitsa” (Pancake Day) celebrations and the poetic and philosophical heritage of A. S. Pushkin.
