TV BRICS is to host exclusive screenings of the best films of International PlayButton Short film festival on May 1
Special TV screenings of short films of various genres, participants of International PlayButton short film festival in Chennai, will be held on May 1 at 15: 00 on TV BRICS channel in Rostelecom network (button 249).
The exclusive 3-hour TV screening includes films produced by Brazilian, Indian and Chinese directors that are not yet familiar to the Russian audience. Among them are the films that are winners of international film competitions, regular participants of international film screenings.
The audience will be presented with the Gran Prix winner of II International PlayButton short film festival in Chennai-a drama "Fourth class" (Vagupparai) by Indian director Jameer Basha. The drama tells about the life of one Indian village in which the only free school closes. The narration is focused on a 4-grader who doesn't give up and wants to continue studies by all means. The film is dubbed by Omsk television company. The premiere is at 16:00 (+3 GMT).
The film “Empty Spring” by Chinese director Arcklot Hal, which received an award as Best International Feature Film, tells us about a lonely girl-poet who is looking for answers to her questions in the environment and her own dreams. The film is dubbed by Omsk television company. As a prize, the director from China was awarded with the Russian TV premiere, which is on TV BRICS as part of festival screenings on May 1 at 16:25.
As part of May screenings of films – participants of Indian film festival, TV BRICS will also present documentaries produced by directors from the BRICS countries. Two Chinese short films, a Brazilian film and a non-fiction film by a Russian director were presented in Chennai as part of PlayButton Short film festival in March 2020. Among them is the work of Alena Benzik, a journalist of Prodvizhenie Channel, called ‘No Place for Old Men’, the documentary on ageing problem and everyday routine of senior people in various countries of the world. The show is at 15:35.
There will be a premiere of a documentary by Brazilian director Jefferson Sousa about the illiterate poet Leonardo Bastiao from the city of Itapetim. The film is dubbed by TV BRICS. It starts at 15: 15.
Short films produced by Renmin Ribao (“People`s daily”) about the Chinese province of Shandong and the development of e-sports in Shanghai will open the festival TV screenings on May 1 at 15:00 on TV BRICS. The films are dubbed by TV BRICS.
