TV BRICS partner in Latin America teleSUR wins the ESG-Principles Headliners Award
At the award ceremony of the II National Award "Headliners of ESG-Principles" in St. Petersburg the winners in 12 nominations were announced.
In one of them "Headliner among Sustainable Media" the main prize went to Patricia Villegas, president of teleSUR with her special project Destino Verde, which promotes a deeper knowledge of the attractions of the global South. This nomination was created in partnership with TV BRICS, a member of the SDG Media Compact.
Destino Verde realises sustainable projects that, in line with the principle of respect for the environment, contribute to an in-depth knowledge of the planet's resources. Each Destino Verde story, with the support of Patricia Villegas, was worked on by a dedicated team of correspondents, writers and producers who create HD content not only for broadcast but also for various teleSUR platforms.
Another partner of TV BRICS, TV channel "Tyumenskoe Vremya", also distinguished itself in ESG projects. Three employees of the channel received special diplomas of the contest: Lyubov Boldyreva "For creation and promotion of ESG-themed media projects", Yulia Saulyak "For contribution to ESG-themed coverage", Gulnara Uspanova "For contribution to ESG-themed presentation to a wide audience".
The rich business programme of the award reflected the trends in ESG-principles provision. During the plenary session "Sustainable Development in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" experts discussed how technological innovations and work with information help business representatives in preserving the environment.
"Artificial intelligence is an opportunity. 98 per cent of the largest companies and SMEs are already using it. If we talk about examples, for Innopolis there have been about 400 projects in the last 3-4 years. These are projects on agricultural management, forest land, traffic flow and others," said the head of the information security centre of Innopolis University Sergey Petrenko.
"Interestingly, each country has its own specifics of information consumption. For example, in South Africa or India, television is hugely popular: much more of the population has access to TV than even the Internet. Also, India is a country where they read the printed press. And TV BRICS news can also be seen on the pages of local print media, including such giants as the Indian media Trinity Mirror. We respect their experience and principles and on the basis of this mutual respect we build information exchange with foreign media partners. This helps to strengthen 'bridges' between countries and regions of the world to promote a sustainable agenda"
Irina Sidorova TV BRICS International Projects Manager
The session "Competences for sustainable development as a challenge for business education" raised the issues of specifics of ESG-principles implementation in different contexts and obtaining specialised skills.
The participants of the talk "Systemic charity – a tool for business and society development" discussed the role of initiatives to support all segments of the population and the peculiarities of information perception in different societies.
The best works of the award will be posted on TV BRICS resources in five languages. TV BRICS and its partners' platforms abroad will feature an interview with the winner of the award. This year's award was given to projects implemented during 2023.
