TV BRICS organises screenings of children's films from BRICS countries on the platform of the Beijing Film Festival

70 films and TV programmes have been shortlisted in various categories

TV BRICS International Media Network is organising exclusive screenings of children's films from the five countries on the platform of the Beijing Film Festival.

Russia is represented in the screenings by TV channel Prodvizheniye Television School, a partner of TV BRICS in Russia, whose project "Who To Be" has been included in the competition programme.

Choosing a profession affects one’s whole life, but in school nobody teaches you how to make the right choice! How do you know which profession is right for you? What job would you run to with joy every morning? The answer is simple, you need to study the profession from the inside, to learn about all the subtleties and nuances. The program "Who To Be" tells peopleabout different professions. As a career guidance it allows you to learn more and makes children think: "Who To Be". The presenter of the TV project is Sonya Volkova.

In addition, films from other BRICS countries - Brazil, India, China and South Africa were included in the festival's competition programme.

The Latin American country is represented by director Guilherme Reis with Inside The Little Box - Child's Secret, a feature film set in 2021. Three brothers are successful at school with their grandmother's boxes, family heirlooms that transport people to the universe of circle songs. However, to the children's disappointment, their father is unable to join in the fun. Meanwhile, the object catches the attention of a pressured greedy.

South African director Lethu Meyiwa brings The College Learns Kung Fu. It is about a college kid being bullied by someone older than him therefore he attends karate classes to defend himself from the bullies that keep harassing him and making him feel unworthy.

South African film Lisa and her mole directed by Mordecai Sizolwenkosi Ndlovu, Nkosazana Mnisi, Fortune Maluleke will compete for prizes. Lisa and her mole is aimed to educate young children about self love, respect, acceptance and the importance of being kind to others and them selves. This story which also has a book will help raise a generation of children who are courteous of what they do, what they say and how they say it creating a world where color, race and physical appearance is no excuse.

Chidananda S Naik from India will compete for prizes with the film Trishna. The film tells the story of a naughty eight-year-old boy, Madhava, who spent most of his time in the village. But he’s being sent to the city to get an education. Mother takes Madhava to his strict uncle and before leaving tels to his sun his favourite story. The boy brings glass balls to school and during class the teacher notices him playing with them. Madhava hopes that a reprimand for bad behavior is a chance to return home to his mother, but finds out that he can't go back soon, nor can he play with balls whenever he wants. He is confused by a story his mother once told him.

This year's film festival will screen 601 films from various countries. The shortlists for the various categories of the competition include 70 films and TV programmes.

The list of the best feature-length Chinese films includes 12 films. Short local films are among the finalists with 16 films. Eight films were shortlisted for feature-length international films. Among the best foreign short films are 16 films. In the out-of-competition block "Care for Children" 17 projects were selected. The shortlist for the TV BRICS International Special Competition includes 17 films and programmes of directors from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, which will compete for prizes in the final of the festival.

The Beijing International Children's Film Festival, facilitated by the Children's Science and Education Committee of China's largest Children's Culture and Arts Promotion Association, emerged in 2018 and has become the largest children's film festival in China. The cultural event organises screenings in cities and villages.

TV BRICS became a partner of the 4th Beijing International Children's Film Festival in 2022. In addition, the international network promotes high-quality media content for children and families, created by directors and journalists from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. In 2022, TV BRICS has already held its own screenings on the platform of the IX International Film Festival Zero Plus, dedicated to children's and family cinema.
