TV BRICS project was presented at the Third Kostomarov Forum

The media network is working to promote the Russian language in far abroad countries

On Wednesday, 24 May, the Third Kostomarov Forum is an important event for russianists worldwide opened at the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute in Moscow.

Within the framework of the opening ceremony, Daria Ivankova, Director of TV BRICS International Cooperation Department presented the project of the media network and its activities to promote Russian language in far abroad countries.

TV BRICS International Media Network initiated informational interaction with educational institutions in BRICS+ countries in order to promote new integration mechanisms for cooperation between members of the five countries in the field of education in the global media space. The capabilities of TV BRICS also make it possible to effectively promote the Russian language in the far abroad countries, which is one of the priorities of the media network within the education track.

"The Department of Innovative Linguistic Projects of TV BRICS is working on the international platform "Modern Russian" dedicated to Russian philology. Specialists regularly organise educational teleconferences for teachers and students of foreign universities where Russian is taught as a foreign language. The most active participants today are universities in Brazil and India. It is important to note that professionally prepared media content is used within the framework of the teleconferences. The high quality and methodological value of the videos produced by TV BRICS allows the materials to be used during studies of Russian as a foreign language. TV BRICS shares self-produced videos with higher education institutions for further use by teachers as part of their lessons"

Daria Ivankova also added that TV BRICS programmes, videos, documentaries about Russia are systematically broadcast and published on the platforms of foreign media partners of TV BRICS in Russian dubbing with subtitles in national languages, which allows to promote Russian language and culture in BRICS+ media space.

"For example, a series of programmes about small towns in the Moscow region, City of Stories, is currently being successfully broadcast on Chinese social networks bilibili, weibo and the official media in China. A TV programme is being prepared for broadcast on public television in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil," said the director of TV BRICS International Cooperation Department.

The Kostomarov Forum has been taking place since 2021. It is dedicated to the scientific and pedagogical legacy of Vitaly Grigorievich Kostomarov, the founder and first rector of the Pushkin Institute.

During this year's event, experts will discuss questions of digital linguistics and education, vectors and prospects for describing cultural semantics, review interdisciplinary research on tactile communication, present reports on the promotion of the Russian language abroad, development of modern Russian literature, and will also consider trends and problems in teaching Russian to foreigners.
