TV BRICS to premiere on Russia Day a media project on the history of Russia's relations with the BRICS countries
On Russia Day, 12 June, TV BRICS on the Wink service will premiere the media project "BRICS: in the mirror of times". It is a joint media project of the TV BRICS and the State Academic University for the Humanities ( GAUGN) about the history of relations between Russia and the five countries, which is part of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia (2022 - 2031).
The project is a series of thematic stories on the multimedia platform of TV BRICS with the participation of experts (historians, political scientists, cultural scientists, philosophers, orientalists), telling about the most bright pages of shared history and collective memory of the BRICS countries in the context of the Russian perspective. A series of interviews with leading academics in the social and human sciences use historical sources and references to conducted research.
The expert interviews focus on popularising the research of Russian scholars in the social and human sciences on issues related to the BRICS states: the history of these countries, their relations with Russia, and their shared past and present.
The project was supported by a grant from the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the federal project " Popularisation of Science and Technology".
According to Natalia Emelyanova, head of the initiative from GAUGN and Vice-Rector for Strategic Communications and Information Policy at the university, the project aims to demonstrate the role of Russian leading and young scientists in the social and human sciences in the building of a correct perception of events in the common past of the BRICS countries.
"Many events are still unknown to the general public. Our project will help to fill this gap. I think "BRICS: in the mirror of times" will serve as a kind of confirmation of how important it is for the BRICS countries to realise that many of the backgrounds that have guided the development of bilateral contacts now allow for more productive interaction in a much needed multilateral format"![]()
