TV BRICS will air programmes about Russian history, culture and sustainable development in the new season
On 5 September at 20:00, the premiere of the "City of Stories" TV project will take place. The 13 episodes of the programme will tell about the 13 small towns in Russia, which have largely preserved the atmosphere, appearance and memory of the places where they were founded by tsar's or princely decree. As industries developed, these settlements produced unique crafts and trades, amazing architectural structures, and incredibly tasty and appetising food.
Today, small towns are the backbone of any country. Their sustainable development is now at the top of the agenda for the whole world. The "City of Stories" tells the stories of those who cherish their national cultural heritage, generously share it with tourists and wouldn't trade their favourite quiet town for Moscow and St. Petersburg for anything.
The first episode tells the story of one of the most mysterious places in Russia - Pereslavl-Zalessky. The audience will learn how fishermen fished in this town 500 years ago, what peasant design is and what Pereslavl ice cream made of... herring tastes like.
Watch "City of Stories" on 5 September at 20:00 (with reruns on Saturday and Sunday at 20:00) and new episodes will be broadcast every two weeks thereafter.
On 12 September at 8 p.m., TV BRICS will premiere its "Let's be clear!" series of educational programmes on environmental conservation. In each episode, together with our eco-mentors, we discuss global environmental problems and ways to solve them using the example of Russian projects. We talk about what has already been done, and what is yet to come. We explain what sustainability, conscious consumption and green technology are, using examples. We give the floor to those who are shaping a new ecological culture and respect for nature - in the state, in society and in every individual.
The themes of the programme series are: the ecology profession, national parks, the Zero Waste concept. Viewers will also see programmes on recycling old household appliances, developing environmentally friendly creative industries, the federal 'Clean Air' project and water treatment.
About 70% of the surface of the globe is covered by water, and it seems that there is enough for everyone. However, freshwater accounts for only about 3% of the total. According to the UN, one in 10 inhabitants of the planet is currently suffering from a lack of drinking water. The first step towards conserving resources is to use them wisely.
Can you drink tap water? Who and how brings wastewater to clean water? And is it easy to catch floating litter? - see the first episode.
"Let's Be Clear!" project will air on 12 September at 20:00 (with a reruns at 20:00 on Saturday and Sunday) and new episodes will be broadcast every two weeks thereafter.
"Last year the thematic broadcasting of TV BRICS focused more on entertainment content. In 2022, we have decided to bring more serious topics to the fore: environmental conservation, small town development, industry and agriculture. New projects have appeared on TV BRICS, as well as on other resources of the international network: "Special Report", "Agroparallels", "Gold", and "More Precious than Gold", which have already received a response from our viewers. However, this does not mean that entertainment programmes will completely disappear from the broadcasting grid.
"Culture and art programmes continue to be important to us, and there are many more highlights for our viewers this year. Meanwhile, it is now the turn of the "City of Stories" and "Let's be Clear!" projects to go on the Russian and international airwaves: we adapt all the content of TV BRICS own production into foreign languages and send it to media partners of the international network for broadcasting in BRICS countries," said Ksenia Komissarova, editor-in-Chief of TV BRICS.
Also in the new season, TV BRICS viewers will see a special project on International Music Day, which is dedicated to the history of the famous Pyotr Tchaikovsky music competition.
The Russian editorial team of the international network is preparing to continue the series of telethons on the BRICS countries and their landmark events. In September, for example, a special broadcast is planned for the 200th anniversary of Brazil's independence.
