Two Assembled Frigates Will Be Given to India Under the Contract Within 3.5 Years

In 2018, the contract for sellingtwo frigatescosting 980 million dollars to India was concluded.

According to the CEO of shipbuilding plant "Yantar" Eduard Yefimov, the first frigate of the Project 11356 will be given to the Navies of India in 3 years, and the second in 3.5 years.

'According to the terms of the contract, after the delivery of gas-turbine engines (by India –ed. note), the first ship will be delivered in three years, and the second in 3.5 years,'Yefimovsaid to RIA.
The intergovernmental agreement on production of a series of frigates upon the Project 11356 was signed following the results of negotiations of the Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

The CEO of Rostec Sergey Chemezovhas also specified that two frigates will be assembled in Russia, and all the subsequent ones on a shipyard in India.
It is reported that initially frigates were intended for the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, but then their construction was suspended.
