UAE begins construction of first air taxi station

These stations are strategically designed to provide convenient access points for both residents and tourists

Dubai’s leadership has officially launched the construction of its pioneering aerial taxi station, marking a significant milestone in the city’s futuristic urban mobility plans. This groundbreaking project, slated for completion in early 2026, aims to reshape the travel experience within the emirate, reports KazInform, a partner of TV BRICS.

The announcement was made by Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and the Chairman of The Executive Council, who shared details of the initiative on social media. According to the Crown Prince, the cutting-edge facility will span 3,100 square meters, with a capacity to handle up to 42,000 landings and serve 170,000 passengers annually.

In its first phase, Dubai’s air taxi service will feature landing hubs at key locations across the city. These stations are strategically designed to provide convenient access points for both residents and tourists, bringing seamless, rapid air travel to popular destinations across the city.

The new three-storey vertiport will feature two landing platforms dedicated to electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft and helicopter operations, equipped with rapid charging technology for battery-powered aircraft. This will enable a high turnover rate, supporting up to ten flights per hour and ensuring a smooth, efficient service.

Dubai’s investment in aerial taxis forms part of its wider vision to alleviate urban congestion and offer eco-friendly transportation alternatives.

The service is set to be operational by late 2025, advancing Dubai’s timeline for next-generation urban transport. The electric aerial taxis will feature vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) technology, capable of carrying up to four passengers and a pilot, with a range of 160 km and a maximum speed of 320 km/h.
