UAE ranks 15th globally in 2025 UN Human Development Index

The health sector is a cornerstone of the UAE's future-orientated vision

The United Arab Emirates has secured 15th place globally in the 2025 Human Development Index (HDI), marking a leap of eleven positions from its previous ranking in the 2021–2022 report by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.

The UAE’s composite HDI score reached 0.94, reflecting robust performance across the four main metrics: life expectancy at birth (82.9 years), expected years of schooling (15.6 years), mean years of schooling (13 years), and gross national income per capita (USD 71,142).

According to experts, these indicators align closely with Sustainable Development Goals, focusing respectively on health and well-being, quality education, and decent work and economic growth.

Minister of Health and Prevention, AbdulRahman Bin Mohamed Al Owais, stated that the UAE’s leadership in human development reflects its commitment to delivering an advanced, inclusive healthcare system that embraces medical innovation and community wellness. He described the health sector as a cornerstone of the nation’s future-orientated vision.

The UNDP’s Human Development Index is a composite measure of quality of life based on health, education, and wealth.
