Venezuela launches historic tourist routes to attract international visitors
In response to the growing interest in tourism in Venezuela, the country's President Nicolas Maduro has announced the creation of historical itineraries around the country. The initiative aims to strengthen the tourism sector, which is showing a 108 per cent year-on-year growth.
The president emphasised the importance of diversifying tourism offerings and attracting more international visitors. This is reported by teleSUR, a partner of TV BRICS.
The Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Leticia Gomez, announced that 1,588,000 international tourists will arrive in the country in 2024.
Maduro highlighted the importance of creating direct flights to boost tourism. He announced the opening of a direct flight between Beijing and Caracas with the aim of attracting one million Chinese tourists.
This measure is part of a broader strategy to diversify tourism sources and capitalise on the potential of emerging markets.
In his speech, Maduro also instructed the Minister of Industry to develop a plan to supply the tourism sector with local products. The initiative aims to stimulate the local economy and provide tourists with an authentic experience that reflects the country's cultural and gastronomic richness.
These actions allow Venezuela to establish itself as an attractive destination for both national and international tourists. Focusing on sustainable tourism and promoting local culture are key steps to revitalise a sector that has the potential to become one of the country's economic pillars.
