Vietnam aims for 100% online public services by 2025 in ambitious digital transformation drive

Key priorities within the plan include streamlining regulatory frameworks to foster innovation, investing in digital infrastructure and transformation

Vietnam has announced a target to offer all eligible government administrative procedures fully online by the end of 2025, marking a leap forward in its national digital transformation strategy. The initiative, spearheaded by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, aims to revolutionise public services, enhance citizen convenience, and drive economic growth.

This push for full online accessibility is a key component of Project 06, a comprehensive government programme designed to leverage population data, digital identification, and electronic authentication to support national digital transformation from 2022 to 2025, with a longer-term vision extending to 2030. This is reported by VNA, a partner of TV BRICS.

Recognising the importance of coordinated action, the government is implementing measures to strengthen collaboration between central and local authorities, ensuring accountability in advancing science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation across all levels of administration.

Key priorities within the plan include streamlining regulatory frameworks to foster innovation, investing in robust digital infrastructure, cultivating a highly skilled workforce, promoting data connectivity across critical sectors, and encouraging enterprise-led innovation.

As part of the sweeping changes, universities are expected to expand training programmes in science, technology, and digital fields, fostering collaborative models between academia, research institutions, and industry.

A national platform to facilitate science and technology trading will also be established, connecting businesses with cutting-edge technologies.

The plan sets targets for public service delivery, aiming to ensure that by the end of 2025, 80 per cent of government applications will be processed digitally, and 40 per cent of the adult population will be actively using online public services.
