Vietnam forecasts record aquatic exports
Vietnam recorded a total of 7.9 million tonnes of aquatic products from January to October
Vietnam's aquatic product exports are on track to surpass the annual target of US$10 billion thanks to high demand in its main markets, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said.
In October, exports reached US$1.1 billion, bringing cumulative revenue for the first 10 months of 2024 to US$8.33 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12 per cent, as reported by Vietnam News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
In terms of production, Vietnam recorded a total of 7.9 million tonnes of aquatic products from January to October, representing a growth of 2.5 per cent over the same period last year. Aquaculture production reached 4.6 million tonnes, an increase of 3.8 per cent, with basa (pangasius bocourti) fish accounting for 1.44 million tonnes and shrimp for over 1.1 million tonnes.
With these figures, the ministry is confident that the aquaculture sector will continue to be a key driver of the Vietnamese economy, strengthening its position as one of the world's leading exporters of aquatic products.
