World Media Summit participants: the event is an important platform for experience exchange and media coordination

The participants of the 5th World Media Summit spoke about the significance of the event in exclusive comments to TV BRICS

Representatives of leading media organisations from Iran, Malaysia and the UAE have spoken about the significance of the 5th World Media Summit in China, attended by 450 delegates from 101 countries, in exclusive comments to TV BRICS.

Mohammad Mahdi Rahmati, CEO of Tehran Times (Iran) believes that this platform helps in maintaining relations with different countries. "I think that by bringing together different media outlets here, partnerships can be forged between the participating countries. Such summits have a positive impact on the economy and can take relations between nations to a new level," said Mohammad.

Wong Chun Wai, Chairman of Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), emphasised that the platform provides an opportunity to jointly discuss solutions to world problems.

He mentioned that countries need to increase economic co-operation and share experiences with each other.

"We want to find out how we <...> could work together to settle in national currencies when exporting and importing goods. And Malaysia and China already have this practice. So let's learn from each other," he added.

Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi General Director of Emirates News Agency (WAM), noted the importance of the event as a platform for exchanging views and experiences:

"I think meeting colleagues from different parts of the world is important. This conference is a great opportunity for us to communicate with media representatives from other countries, exchange experience and learn how we can build mutually beneficial co-operation. In mid-November, we held the Global Media Congress in Abu Dhabi. People from all over the world came to visit us. And it helped us a lot to get in touch with each other because we have a lot in common. The 5th World Media Summit gives us an opportunity to share opinions with each other," he said.

The 5th World Media Summit, which is being held in Guangzhou, China, is attended by representatives of 197 media outlets from 101 countries, including Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, India, South Africa and others. The theme of this year's event is "Boosting Global Confidence, Promoting Media Development". The summit will run until 8 December. It is organised by the Chinese Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
