Xi Jinping to visit Moscow by next week

Chinese President Xi Jinping intends to visit Moscow as early as next week, as reported by Reuters.

According to them, the Chinese leader expects to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The details were not given.

Earlier in February was reported that the Chinese president's trip to Moscow could take place in April or May.

Last December, Putin invited Xi Jinping to come to Moscow in the spring of 2023 during talks via video conferencing. In February, the Russian president received Wang Yi, head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, in the Kremlin. Putin then expressed the hope that the visit would give an additional impetus to the development of bilateral relations between Moscow and Beijing.

The previous face-to-face meeting between the Russian and Chinese leaders took place in September 2022 in Samarkand during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
