Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory letter to participants of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Forum on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development, which opened in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

Xi noted that China has managed to win a decisive victory over poverty, fulfil the relevant target of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ten years ahead of schedule, and pave the way for poverty reduction with Chinese characteristics.

In recent years, he said, SCO countries have actively cooperated in poverty alleviation and sustainable growth, achieving meaningful results.

As the rotating chair of the SCO, China will strengthen policy exchanges, share experience in poverty alleviation, expand practical cooperation, and help other countries find suitable sustainable development models.
