Yekaterinburg may host the BRICS cybersports championship
Yekaterinburg may host the finals of the international cybersports championship in 2023. A proposal has been submitted by the Russian Federation of Computer Sports. It will be supported by the regional government and Sverdlovsk Region Governor.
The President of the Federation of Computer Sports of Russia (FCSR) Dmitry Smith pointed out that apart from its sporting component, the event would involve a lot of activities around the competition, which would improve the city's image. He added that the main focus at the moment is to create tournaments between the BRICS countries.
"Right now our main interest is the BRICS countries, it is clear that this should be actively expanded now. For all the federations within those countries, we are a good senior comrade," said Smith.
The possibility of holding big cybersports competitions was discussed during the working meeting of the deputy governor Sverdlovsk Region Pavel Krekov with representatives of the Federation of Computer Sports of Russia, as reported on the website of the OTV platform.
