Zimbabwe unveils pangolins conservation strategy

Zimbabwe's First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has unveiled a Pangolin Conservation Strategy and an action plan to preserve these endangered animals. This is reported by The Herald, a partner of TV BRICS.

At the event, which was held in a district in Manicaland province, Mnangagwa emphasised the need for an integrated approach to protecting pangolins, which play an important role in Zimbabwe's ecosystems.

The First Lady also noted the importance of combating poaching and illegal trade in wildlife species. She emphasised that pangolins, along with rhinos and leopards, are among the animals in need of special protection and called on all citizens to actively participate in conservation.

During the event, Mnangagwa handed over a pregnant female pangolin to the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority for further care. The animal was found in a village in the country and given to the First Lady. She promised to continue monitoring the condition of the mammal.
