More than 150 delegates at the BRICS Media Forum in South Africa discussed the role of media in economic development and innovation
The BRICS Media Forum traditionally opens ahead of the Summit of the Five and is held in the presiding country. Thus, more than 150 delegates met in Johannesburg to discuss a number of important topics, including the role of media in economic development and innovation and the formation of a new world order.
Since 2015, the Media Forum of the Five has been organised by Xinhua News Agency. Its CEO Fu Hua noted the importance of expanding co-operation between the media of the BRICS countries, as well as the entire African continent. An example of successful organisation of information exchange is the international TV BRICS network. Its CEO Zhanna Tolstikova spoke at a discussion on stimulating economic growth in Africa and shared her experience in developing the media network, which now has more than fifty partner media outlets in eleven countries, including Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
