My India. Festival of Deepdaan in Mathura city
Celebrated during the Hindu month of Kartik, which is said to be dear to Lord Krishna. The month of Kartik is considered to be one of the most auspicious months in Hinduism. With the onset of this pious month, Krishna devotees from not just India but around the world started thronging Krishna temples in Mathura city of Uttar Pradesh to celebrate the festival of ‘Deepdaan’ that is the lighting of lamps to honour the deity.
