My India. Festival of ‘Magha Amavasya’
Recently, people across India observed the festival of ‘Magha Amavasya’ or ‘Mauni Amavasya’ as they thronged to the banks of holy rivers especially Ganga. As the name suggests, this day is also referred as a ‘day of silence’ in Hinduism. Some devotees also take a pledge to keep a vow of silence (Maun Vrat) throughout the day.
