My India. Indian diamond industry

Surat, in the western Indian state of Gujarat, is the global diamond hub. It is known for cutting and polishing about 90 per cent of the world’s diamonds with its skilled craftsmanship and advanced technology. Surat has recently gained attention for producing lab-grown diamonds, also known as green diamonds. These diamonds, identical in properties to mined ones, are available at one-tenth the cost. This innovation is driving growth in the Indian diamond industry.
