My India. Indian farming community
India is predominantly an agrarian economy, with agriculture employing a significant portion of the population. The agricultural industry contributes around 17–18 per cent to the nation's GDP and is vital for rural livelihoods. The Government of India supports the farming community, especially small and marginal farmers, through various initiatives such as subsidies on fertilisers, seeds, and irrigation. Many programmes help provide direct financial aid to farmers.
