Festivals in India revolve around birth anniversaries, traditions and religious beliefs. One such festival is that of Guruprav which is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Sahib, the first Sikh Guru and the founder of Sikhism. Recently, the festival of Guruparv was celebrated in Amritsar city of Punjab with great pomp and fervor.
A pool of Sikh devotees gathered at Golden Temple, the holiest Sikh Shrine, in Northern Amritsar city to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
Said to be the founder of Sikhism and also the first of the 10 Sikh gurus, each year his is celebrated in the form of Guru Nanak Jayanti or Guruparv.
