My India. Yaoshang festival in Manipur state

The state of Manipur got soaked in the festive spirit of joy as it celebrated its most awaited festival of “Yaoshang” the five day extravaganza that marks the onset of spring. On the first day of the festival, a small hut also known as Yaoshang is constructed with bamboos and straws.

Inside it, the idol of Chaitanaya Mahaprabhu, the founder of Gauda Vaishnavism, is kept. The devotees keep a number of sweets and candles infront of the hut.
