Sergey Malyshev, Director of Center for International Cooperation at Russian Ministry of Education: “Interest in learning Russian in Laos follows strengthening of our economic cooperation and creative exchanges”
Russia and Laos have signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the field of education. Specialised Russian language classes are already operating in Vientiane, with new ones opening in Luang Prabang. At present, teaching is provided in seven schools across the republic, with the programme reaching more than 420 pupils.
What is driving the growing interest among the people of Laos in learning Russian? And does Russia intend to expand its educational outreach to ASEAN countries?
Sergey Malyshev, Director of the Centre for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, spoke about this in a BRICSterview.
