Volunteers help to preserve the collectible plants of the Main Botanical Garden
The Arboretum of Tsitsin Main Moscow Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences hosts the largest collection of woody plants in Russia. Around 1000 species are collected here. In 2013, a group of volunteers led by a lead curator began to restore the historic layout of the '80s. Clear all the weeds from the clearings, remove the dead wood and preserve the collection plants. One of the new plantings is Kuril bamboo. It is able to grow not in the tropics, but in our northern latitudes. Even more details in our story.
