Culture of Saudi Arabia
The culture of the kingdom is based on the canons of Islam. To fully experience its authenticity, it is enough to walk through the streets of Riyadh, where modern skyscrapers cover the shadow of historical buildings erected many years ago. Since 1985, a large-scale national festival called Al-Jenadriyah has been held near Riyadh. It is visited by hundreds of thousands of people. The programme includes concerts, theatre performances, arts and crafts fairs, traditional painting, falconry, and poems in Arabic.
