How ethanol cars help to improve the environment in Brazil

In Latin America alternative fuels are in high demand. For example, in Brazil ethanol-fueled cars are as popular as petrol cars. It is interesting that the state made a bet on biofuel from sugar cane back in the 1970s, and subsequently the state program was constantly adjusted, taking into account fluctuations in gasoline prices. If it got cheaper, ethanol prices went down too. Also in the 1990s, the authorities supported the development of FlexFuel-vehicles that can be fueled with a mixture of gasoline and ethanol, as well as pure gasoline.
