The final stage of the Russian Winter Swimming Cup was held in Russia

The final 6 stage of the Russian wInter Swimming Cup was held in the Moscow region in the water area of the Istra reservoir. More than 80 people gathered for the competition among adventure-seekers, those who wanted not just to plunge into the icy water, but also to swim a certain distance at speed. A variety of participants were plunged into cold water. Young and old people. Beginners and skilled winter swimmers.

Ivan Kupriyanov, a competitor: "In our country, this is a national sport, and people who usually go in for ice-hole swimming, the so-called plunging, participate in winter swimming. Then, when they see that they can also swim in this water, extend the distance and their presence in the water, they begin to get involved in swimming. With swimmers vice versa. They get cold training, and if they get a good cold training, then they will have the appropriate results later, of course."

Athletes competed in swimming for 25, 50 and 100 meters. A 25-meter swimming relay was also held among the participants in three swimming styles - freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly. At each stage, swimmers were awarded points for their performance. The athlete who scored the most points in the total of 3 stages became the winner in each age group among men and women.

Natalia Seraya, President of the Moscow regional branch of the Russian Winter Swimming Federation: "Yesterday was the first day of the competition, we were in hurricane conditions, there was a storm wind, waves, white caps, we were blown away, but we swam 450 meters in open water in these waves."

Natalia Seraya has been practicing cold training for about 10 years. Today, she heads the regional branch of the Russian Winter Swimming Federation and is one of the organizers of competitions in the Moscow region. She believes that winter swimming saved her from diseases.

Natalia Seraya, President of the Moscow regional branch of the Russian Winter Swimming Federation: "I have been going without outerwear for several winters and summers in a row. I have a fur coat hanging in my closet for 7 years, I don't wear it. Well, I don't wear boots, warm clothes, in winter I also go out without outdoor clothes. If it is up to minus 20 degrees in winter and there is no wind, I can walk in a T-shirt and shorts"

The second name of the competition is the Championship of the USSR - the Union of Brave and Strong Romantics. The most courageous and prepared people only were able to swim the marathon distance of almost half a kilometer in freestyle at a water and air temperature of +2 degrees. This category is the most prestigious and hardest. To overcome the distance, you need a very high level of health and special training. The "average" person without thermal protection dies in such water in 20 minutes.

Alexander Roganov, a competitor: "Well, for a healthy person who didn't train, plunging is enough. If you want to improve something, you need to train. Without training, it will be fatal. As you know, we have famous Osman Dreibash, she was already an hour and 20, in my opinion, and the Ivanovo citizens - up to 2 hours in the hole."

According to the terms of severity, the man's fighting for life in an uninhabitable environment is comparable only to Gladiator fights. Herewith, it is not harmful for marathon runners – "ones who set limits on rate of output". Training methods allow you to prepare the body with increasing your results and with profit to health.

Earlier stages of the Russian Winter Swimming Cup were held in Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, in February they were held in Ufa and Ivanovo.
