Today, India is the third largest start-up ecosystem globally (by number of start-ups) with more than 15,000 start-ups established in 2020, up from 5000 in 2010. Additionally, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, India has witnessed more number of Unicorn startups in just 2021 than it did in the period 2011-20.
India’s startup ecosystem has notched up record investment of nearly $ 36 billion in privately held companies this year as demand for digitisation grew manifold amid the Covid-19 pandemic. In total, capital flowing to private Indian startups surged over four times to about $39 billion this year and nearly three times from the previous best of $14.6 billion in 2019, according to data from insight platform Tracxn.
Armed with all this capital, startups have been able to move fast executing their strategies to grow exponentially through inorganic routes, both vertically and geographically. With an increased number of startups mushrooming in many tier 1 and tier 2 cities of India, there are an increased number of investment opportunities for investors and venture capitalist firms. Although the scenario for investment in India has been gradually improving and developing, there is much needed for common public to understand about the ifs and how’s of how, when and where should one’s investment journey begin.
Keeping this in mind, we at BRICS CCI wish to host a virtual session under our newly created Investment Vertical to understand and decode the multitude of investment opportunities which are available for budding investors. The session will aim to bring various investors and firms at one place and will discuss and explain the dos and don’ts one must keep in mind before venturing out into the world of investment.
The webinar is organised by the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (India) with media support from TV BRICS.
