China and Africa unite to accelerate the transition to green energy
China and Africa have joined efforts in Shanghai to accelerate the green energy shift and fight climate change. The new initiative, the "Shanghai Action Initiative on Sustainable Energy Transition and Green Investment and Financing," was launched ahead of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation 2024 summit. This is reported by China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.
The initiative is based on the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. The roundtable, comprising government representatives, experts, and business people, emphasised the need for increased investment in green infrastructure and technology, as well as the development of appropriate policies.
The Shanghai Initiative proposes concrete steps for China and Africa to work together, such as:

strengthening policy dialogue;

joint research on sustainable energy;

promoting green financial products and services.
Officials from both sides emphasised their commitment to cooperation on climate change and sustainable development.
Cui Dandan, representative of the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment, noted hat China and Africa share common sustainable development goals.
