Colombia and China deepen scientific cooperation in AI and quantum technologies

The agreement will span five years and aims to promote ethical and responsible scientific development

Officials from Colombia and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Bogota to enhance bilateral collaboration in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Sciences and Technologies. This is reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS. 

The agreement, signed by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Yesenia Olaya and China’s Ambassador to Colombia, Zhu Jingyang, will span five years and aims to promote ethical, safe, and responsible development of emerging AI and quantum technologies. 

Olaya highlighted her department’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations so that science, knowledge, and new technologies can drive Colombia’s productive and economic development. She noted that developing AI with a focus on technological and data sovereignty requires partnerships and learning from global advancements.

On his side, Ambassador Zhu emphasised China’s dedication to expanding international cooperation on AI governance and development, promoting inclusive progress among nations.
