Fish production rises in Zimbabwe

180 million fingerlings will be distributed via the borehole programme

The source claims that the government's Agriculture, Food Systems, and Rural Transformation Strategy is having an impact because fish output has increased from 20,000 metric tonnes to 33 000 metric tonnes annually during the past 1.5 years. This is reported by ZBC News, a partner of TV BRICS.

The Presidential Fisheries Scheme seeks to provide household access to reasonably priced protein and to promote trade by selling excess output.

Davis Marapira, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development said that over the next five years, the nation's fish production is anticipated to rise even more, according to official projections.

The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is helping to develop five fry-rearing centres at this time.
