India looks for effective way to use artificial intelligence to combat climate change

India needs to develop customised artificial intelligence (AI) models to successfully predict climate change, said Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the country's science and technology ministry.

He was speaking at a two-day conclave organised by the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi. The event brought together experts from across the country to discuss data quality control as well as strengthening human interaction for better solutions to adapt to climate change.

He presented a report on “District Level Climate Risk Assessment for India” and added that AI models based on indigenous data will provide a better understanding of the problem.

The experts stated that about 40 per cent of the world's population is already facing adverse impacts of climate change. They urged members of the scientific community to come together and not just analyse the problem, but actively search for solutions. This is reported by IANS, a partner of TV BRICS.
