Iranian-made medical products are exported to 40 countries around the world
The production of medical products has quadrupled
The number of manufacturing companies in Iran has increased fivefold in the past five years, with some 2,000 companies now operating. In addition, the production of medical products has quadrupled.
Experts also noted that Iranian medical centres have been equipped with 15,000 new hospital beds and 90 per cent of this equipment has been manufactured in Iran.
More than 70 per cent of medical equipment and all regular hospital beds in Iran are domestically produced, as reported Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS. Abdolreza Yaqoubzadeh, head of Iran's Union of Medical Equipment Manufacturers and Exporters, said in January that the country's need for medical equipment production is about US$3 billion to US$4 billion a year, with a significant portion currently being imported.
In addition, according to the Vice President for Science and Technology, more than 227 knowledge-intensive firms play a crucial role in supplying medical equipment to medical centres across Iran. Developing medical technology and enhancing the global competitiveness of Iranian companies in the medical sector remains one of the country's top priorities.
