New Delhi Airport ranks among top 10 hubs in Asia and Middle East

Dubai International Airport topped the ranking

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has been ranked among the top ten hubs in the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East according to the 2024 Air Connectivity Ranking released by Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to the report, Dubai Airport topped the list. The report notes that New Delhi is strengthening its position as an international transit hub thanks to connections to 153 destinations – 81 domestic and 72 international.

In addition, the airport has doubled the size of its international transit area and introduced biometric terminals for electronic visa holders.

It is emphasised that in recent years, New Delhi has expanded its flight geography with more than 20 new international routes, including destinations in Phnom Penh and Denpasar.

Over the past ten years, passenger traffic at the airport has doubled. Today, it provides departures for 88 per cent of all long-haul routes from India and operates 56 per cent of all long-haul flights departing from the country. Forty-two per cent of all passengers on these routes use this transport hub.
