President Prabowo Subianto pushes green transformation for Indonesia’s capital
Gardens are to be created on high-rise buildings in Jakarta

Indonesia’s capital is set to become a green city by increasing the amount of greenery in public spaces, creating urban parks and installing vertical gardens on high-rise buildings. This was announced by the country’s President, Prabowo Subianto, as reported by ANTARA.
The head of state put forward this initiative as preparations are underway for the official launch of the Indonesia Asri programme, which aims to create a safe, healthy, clean and well-maintained environment. The name "Asri" is an acronym of the Indonesian words "Aman" ("safe"), "Sehat" ("healthy"), "Resik" ("clean") and "Indah" ("beautiful").
"Let’s start with Jakarta. It must become a green city, a garden city. [...] We must transform Jakarta – and eventually all provincial and regency capitals. Indonesia must undergo a transformation. Eliminate waste, clean up rivers using technology," said Prabowo Subianto.
The Indonesian leader backed the capital’s authorities’ efforts to expand public recreational areas, including city parks and jogging tracks.
Earlier, Pramono Anung, Jakarta Governor, announced the start of clean-up operations on major waterways and preparations for the creation of additional green public spaces in the capital.
