Tourism flow between BRICS countries may significantly increase

This was announced by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation

Within the framework of the Russian BRICS Chairmanship, the first online meeting of the Contact Group on Tourism was held. In addition to the permanent members of the association, new BRICS members Egypt, UAE and Ethiopia took part. This is reported by the official website of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

"We are actively working to promote interesting tourist destinations in the BRICS countries," said Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Russia proposed to create a working group on tourism and approve a roadmap for tourism co-operation from 2024 to 2026.

Those who participated in the meeting supported Russia's initiatives, expressing hope for improved communication and increased tourist flow between the BRICS countries.

It is expected that by the end of 2024, the roadmap's activities will increase tourist exchange between the countries to 5 million trips. This will almost quadruple the figures for 2023, when the tourist flow totalled 1.4 million.
