China’s Quanzhou and Wuxi join UNESCO Creative Cities Network

The cities gain recognition for their gastronomy and music

Two Chinese cities – Quanzhou in Fujian province and Wuxi in Jiangsu province – have been officially admitted to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, earning the titles of “City of Gastronomy” and “City of Music,” respectively.

With this addition, the total number of Chinese cities in the Network has reached 20, including major hubs such as Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, reports China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.

This year, 58 cities worldwide joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, chosen for their commitment to promoting creativity as a driver of sustainable urban development and for their active participation in cultural life.

Covering eight creative fields, UNESCO's Creative Cities Network selects new members every two years through a rigorous process, including national-level nomination and international-level review.
